Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional to join our Special Damages Unit (SDU) as a Team Leader. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing others and has strong experience in quantum analysis and personal injury work.

As the Team Leader, you will lead a team of Quantum Analysts and Trainee Quantum Analysts, ensuring high performance and quality output. You will also supervise the Team Coordinator to ensure smooth day‑to‑day administration and timely completion of urgent and backlog work.

You will take responsibility for the creation and quality of all training, resources and communications produced by the team, including face‑to‑face and group training, e‑learning, intranet content and SDU bulletins. You will also lead on Responsible Business initiatives, supporting the Exec Board’s objectives.

A key part of the role involves analysing financial losses in personal injury and motor cases, preparing detailed quantum calculations, and providing specialist advice to fee earners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Quantum Analysts, Trainees and the Team Coordinator
  • Manage performance, 1:1s, appraisals and wellbeing
  • Oversee team workload and ensure deadlines are met
  • Review and quality‑check training materials and resources
  • Maintain the SDU Knowledge Hub with the Knowledge Team
  • Deliver SDU training requirements
  • Deliver SDU development and Responsible Business projects
  • Review evidence and prepare quantum calculations and Schedules of Loss
  • Communicate with fee earners, counsel and clients
  • Manage your own caseload within SLAs
  • Support team development and continuous improvement
About You

Essential:

  • Experience working independently as an experienced fee earner
  • Background in Special Damages
  • Strong communication, performance, organisation and attention to detail
  • Understanding of case management systems
  • In office presence

Desirable:

  • Experience supervising others
  • Knowledge of Legis, PICMS or similar systems
  • Knowledge of legal procedures
  • Strong IT skills, including Word and Excel
