Our Team

Irwin Mitchell is recognised as a litigation powerhouse ranked by The Lawyer as the 2nd most active litigation firm in the UK courts.

Our Commercial Disputes team specialises in a wide range of disputes working with both corporate and institutional clients as well as for individuals. We have the strength and depth to deal with all commercial disputes including contract disputes, professional negligence, partnership, company and shareholder disputes. We advise clients on High Court litigation, adjudication, mediation, expert determination and arbitration. We work closely with our clients, taking the time to seek out and understand their commercial objectives and the risks to their business.  Due to continued growth of this division, we are looking strengthen our national team.

Some of the things we’ve been doing recently:

  • Advising a number of directors in respect of a £150m wrongful trading claim involving a number of companies in multiple jurisdictions;
  • Advising a large consumer brand on a contractual dispute arising out of concessionaire agreement;
  • Reviewing and advising on a national sporting associations' membership policies.
  • Advising multiple businesses on business interruption insurance claims against a range of insurers, in relation to loss caused by COVID-19.
  • Advising a large IT software distributer in respect of a sales of goods and services dispute.
Your Role

You will work closely with the national team and be involved in high value and complex cases; working on your own case load with support where required from partners but also working as part of a team for larger projects. 

You’ll work to participate in relevant practice development initiatives, seek to get involved with business development opportunities and keep up to date with changes in relevant law and practice. You will be an exceptional team player with the ability to work collaboratively to deliver the best outcomes for our clients and to develop other team members.  We are looking for individuals who want to be part of a growing team and who are excited about getting to know our clients so as to provide exceptional service in line with client objectives.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to join our successful team. You’ll be an experienced Commercial Dispute Resolution Solicitor (2 – 7 year PQE) with the confidence to work autonomously, taking the lead on some matters from the very beginning. We are looking for solicitors to support our national team based in any of our Birmingham, Manchester, Gatwick (Crawley) or Leeds offices.
