Our Public Law & Human Rights team specialises in mental capacity, deprivation of liberty, and health & welfare disputes in the Court of Protection, acting for vulnerable adults and their families. The department is consistently recognised in national legal directories for its expertise in health and welfare work before the Court of Protection.
The Bristol team works closely with colleagues across the national Public Law & Human Rights practice, advising on complex Court of Protection matters and supporting vulnerable individuals and their families through challenging and often life-changing circumstances.
We are seeking a Solicitor to join our Bristol office and support the team with a dedicated Court of Protection Health & Welfare caseload, which may include:
- Section 21A challenges to deprivation of liberty
- Best interests applications relating to residence, care, contact, and medical treatment
- Capacity disputes
- Safeguarding and risk-related matters
- Supporting vulnerable clients with complex needs
This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-quality, meaningful cases alongside experienced specialists in the field and develop your expertise within a nationally recognised team.
- Qualified Solicitor with between NQ and 4 years' PQE
- Court of Protection Health & Welfare matters
- Mental Capacity Act and deprivation of liberty issues
- Working with vulnerable adults and their support networks
- Managing sensitive and complex cases with empathy and professionalism
- Advocacy experience or a willingness to develop advocacy skills
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, families, experts and other professionals
