12 Month Fixed Term Contract
As the Senior Legal Advisor, you will provide expert advice for all in-house legal issues across the group ensuring, promotion of and adherence to Irwin Mitchell’s compliance and regulatory policies and procedures. In this role, you will oversee the operational activities of the In-House legal team and support in its delivery of commercial, strategic, legal, and regulatory advice.
What You'll Be Doing
- Researching, drafting, negotiating, and providing legal advice in relation to wide ranging litigation including high value claims, complex claims involving various stakeholders e.g. insurers, brokers, surveyors, accountants, solicitors, and external counsel.
- Working with senior management across the firm to support the legal aspects of strategic projects
- Partnering with the wider GC team to develop relationships with a view to troubleshooting any matters of a legal nature which may arise.
- Managing and supporting legal and regulatory projects such as, changes to operational and corporate structures within the Group and intra group agreements and initiatives.
- Leading on operational tracking of work, process improvements, and management information.
- Engaging, influencing, and challenging key stakeholders across the group on any issues which require a legal and or regulatory input.
- Communicating effectively at all levels to both legal and non-legal professionals.
- Understanding the legal requirements of the business and work with other GC functions, and the wider business to achieve compliance through our practices, processes, and governance.
- Managing conflicting and changing demands through effective prioritisation and a pragmatic decision-making approach.
- Taking initial instructions from clients and to advise on the legal action and all alternatives.
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of changes in legal practices, circulating this information as appropriate, ensuring the Firm's legal advice reflects best practice and any new market opportunities are developed.
- A background of in-house or private practice legal delivery and drafting of documentation.
- Extensive experience in contentious/professional negligence claims and requisite law
- Experience of successfully engaging senior management and groups of stakeholders.
- Strong coaching and line management skills.
