Professional Indemnity Lawyer (1338)

Our Team

Our Finance team works closely with the business, providing management information in order to improve business performance. It is responsible for planning, forecasting and reporting actual financial performance across the Group, and processing the full range of financial transactions for the Group, in a compliant, effective and efficient way. The team is also responsible for Group funding, and merger and acquisition activity.

Your Role

This is an excellent opportunity if you have experience in insurance and risk management, allowing you to utilise these complimentary skill sets. The role is an influential, complex and visible role within the organisation, where you’ll need to work closely with the Director of Risk & Insurance, the wider Finance Team and the General Counsel Team to support with the provision of insurance for the IM Group. You’ll make sure that IM Group has adequate insurance cover, on the best-available terms, for the best available price. You will also provide technical support to the business on insurance related matters and ensure that on-going education is provided through lessons learnt around insurance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Scoping, arranging and maintaining insurance protection for the IM LLP Group on best available terms
  • Liaising with Brokers and Insurers and key stakeholders across the business to manage the non-PI claims for the Group (largely D&O, Cyber, Pensions etc.)
  • Working with the business and brokers to gather and review renewal information and prepare renewal submissions
  • Engaging with key stakeholders across business to ensure new or insurable risks are identified and recommendations to manage these risks are put in place
  • Working with Director of Risk to report to business on cover arrangements, premiums and recoveries
  • Instructing brokers to arrange and place appropriate insurance arrangements to protect organisation
  • Managing the liability claims notification process for non-PI claims and monitoring the effectiveness of insurers’ claims handling service
  • Drafting of Board Papers and Associated Recommendations/Guides as required
  • Acting as a point of contact and escalation for complex insurance related queries across business

What we’re looking for

  • Qualified Professional Indemnity Lawyer (4 years PQE) or equivalent relevant experience (e.g. ACII)
  • A robust SRA/FCA/Regulatory understanding
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of legal procedures-particularly policy wordings and contract law
  • Excellent drafting skills with ability to inspire confidence at all levels across the business
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and structure issues for detailed resolution
  • Understanding of Risk Management and ability to persuade others to follow best practice
  • Ability to network and proactively build relationships across a range of internal departments
  • Successful track record in handling insurance negotiations between Client, Broker and Insurers
  • Strong commitment to deliver results and make a meaningful contribution in a team environment
