Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

We are seeking a commercially minded and influential PCG WIP and Funding Manager to provide financial leadership across the Private Client Group. This senior role is responsible for driving financial performance, strengthening operational discipline and supporting fee earners to deliver improved revenue outcomes.

Working closely with the PCG Senior Leadership Team, you will lead on WIP, billing, cashflow and client funding operations. You will act as a trusted adviser and visible specialist across the practice, influencing financial behaviours, enhancing processes and engaging stakeholders at all levels.

WIP, Billing and Financial KPI Management

  • Monitoring key financial metrics including WIP levels, utilisation, aged WIP and billing frequency
  • Engaging proactively with fee earners who are not billing regularly or carry high WIP levels. 
  • Producing insight-driven reporting with recommendations for the Senior Leadership Team. 
  • Championing best practice billing cycles to support monthly revenue targets. 

Cashflow, Debt and Credit Control Partnership

  • Monitoring PCG debt levels and liaising with fee earners to reduce aged debt.
  • Working closely with Credit Control to support timely client engagement and debt resolution.
  • Reviewing funds on account to highlight trends, gaps and risks. 

Matter Financial Controls and Funds on Account

  • Ensuring consistent Payment on Account processes across all teams. 
  • Strengthening matter-level financial governance aligned with PCG’s risk appetite. 

Client Funding Solutions and Litigation Loans

  • Acting as the main contact for litigation loan providers. 
  • Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of litigation loan applications. 
  • Identifying funding opportunities to improve cashflow and reduce aged WIP. 
  • Signposting clients to funding options in a compliant and non-advisory manner. 

Process Improvement and Innovation

  • Leading initiatives to enhance financial processes and operational consistency. 
  • Working with Operations and Business Services on digital and workflow improvements. 
  • Leading pilot projects and task-and-finish groups to drive ongoing improvements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Building strong relationships with partners, fee earners, Finance, Operations and Credit Control.
  • Communicating financial information clearly and appropriately for different audiences. 
  • Providing high-quality internal support around billing, funding and financial requirements
About You

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of financial performance measures such as WIP, realisation, utilisation, cashflow and debt. 
  • Experience influencing fee earners to drive improved billing and revenue outcomes.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and diplomacy skills. 
  • High accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to analyse trends and turn insights into meaningful action.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in Private Client work, professional services or legal operations. 
  • Experience supporting senior leadership with financial reporting or performance management. 
  • Experience within the legal sector or professional services. 

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to challenge and support fee earners constructively. 
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across multiple locations. 
  • Clear and confident communication, simplifying complex financial information. 
  • Demonstrates leadership behaviours suitable for a practice-wide role.
