Paralegal - Medical Negligence Abuse (5978)

We have an opportunity for a Paralegal to join our medical negligence and abuse team who handle claims for people who were abused as a child, or are the parent or carer of a child that has been abused. These can involve claims from children’s homes, social services and other settings. You’ll also work on some medical negligence claims for people who have suffered illness or injury as a result of substandard care in any medical setting. This includes treatment from a GP, hospital, or clinic. You’ll join Partner Tom Fletcher’s team and you can find out more about the work the team do here.
This role will require you to be on-site in our Birmingham office during the initial training period to help you settle in and access in-person support but will revert to a hybrid working set up upon completion of training.
As a Paralegal, your role will involve but is not limited to:
- Taking instructions from clients and assist with the giving of legal advice, including obtaining evidence and, where appropriate, assist with litigation, to achieve appropriate resolutions for the clients.
- Achieving time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitable working.
- Supporting more senior case handlers generally in the running of the cases.
- Attending and contributing to team/practice area meetings and comply with directions/decisions made to ensure team objectives achieved.
- Keeping up to date with changes in relevant law and practice and attend appropriate training events to ensure up to date legal knowledge and best practice.
As our ideal candidate for this role, you'll have:
