Nurse/Occupational Therapist/Social Worker/Physiotherapists (3642)

Our Team

We are looking for Social Workers, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Case Managers, Discharge Co-Ordinators or Physiotherapists to join our Personal Injury team as Support & Rehabilitation Coordinators. 

As a Support and Rehabilitation Coordinator (SRC) you will join a national team of 11 SRC’s who are based in our IM offices across the UK. You will be a close point of contact for our client’s and their families.

Due to the growth of the Team we currently have opportunities in Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester or Sheffield. 

Your Role

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Liaising with IM clients who have sustained a serious injury or suffer from a serious illness, to provide education, support, signposting and advocacy , manage their expectations and support the client and their family through treatment and rehabilitation and / or the course of their illness and support solicitors in their management of the client
  • Delivering a smooth transition of new clients from key acute NHS services and liaise with treating medical, therapeutic and care staff regarding discharge from acute care and provide advice and practical support to clients in the community or about to be discharged to the community in regard to services and support available
  • Achieving resolution of client problems by building relationships and working collaboratively with relevant bodies and assisting clients in a manner appropriate to their needs by assessing their individual requirements. Acting on any referrals from the case handler and identifying the client needs and working autonomously in partnership with the client and their families and communicating any actions.
  • Being a link between lawyers, public bodies, agencies, charities, NHS and DWP to ensure effective communication and secure additional statutory or voluntary services where required, providing on-going advocacy, signposting or practical support to the client and their family and, where appropriate, ensuring the client is maximising their statutory welfare entitlement (we have a dedicated IM Benefits Team to support you)
  • Preparing and showcasing our SRC service to NHS Trusts, charities and outside agencies to promote our services and encourage referrals of new clients. Facilitate the promotion of IM and its services, by delivering training and identifying links with potential new client referrers
  • Follow up clients after settlement of cases to gain feedback about our services, suggestions for improvement and to request content for web/PR in conjunction with the case handler

You’ll join the Personal Injury and Medical Negligence teams, working with a number of experienced and dedicated solicitors recognised for their expertise in supporting those affected by serious injury and illness.

What We're Looking For
  • Experience of working environments with a passion for high quality client centred practice 
  • Knowledge of Health care, rehabilitation, welfare policy, services and advocacy services. (Sign posting, where appropriate to alternative appropriate services)
  • Understanding of relevant rehabilitation codes, Mental Capacity Act and welfare benefits
  • Awareness of external stakeholders (Headway, SIA, Aspire)
  • Experience working in a clinical, health/social care or rehab setting
  • Understanding of cross-condition issues clients may have experienced (e.g. brain, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic injury, birth injury, industrial disease, bereavement)
  • Experience of working in multiple settings (e.g. acute, post-acute, community settings)
  • Experience of working within an MDT framework
  • Confident to be able to work autonomously and independently
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car – you’ll be expected to meet with clients and other stakeholders on a regular basis
