Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

The role of KM Researcher in the Research team is to provide excellent legal, business, market and information research and analysis to colleagues across the Irwin Mitchell Group.   This role is focused on improving our business and enabling our colleagues to provide excellent advice to their clients/contacts and win business.

  • Providing a full range of research-based services to the Group and its clients as part of the KM Research Team, focusing on the delivery of high quality, timely, accurate and insightful legal, business and market research; analysis and current awareness.
  • Working with the Research Team Manager to deliver business research services across the Group. Proactively engaging with key stakeholders to assess the business research needs of each practice area, sector team and ensure that these needs are met.
  • Utilising key internal and external resources to deliver comprehensive support and ensuring that the presentation of research and analysis is accessible and appropriate for the audience.
About You
  • A degree or post-graduate qualification in Information and Library Management, Information Science or a related subject.
  • Proven ability to conduct legal research across subscription databases, including Lexis and Westlaw.
  • Proven ability to conduct business research across subscription databases, publicly available databases and information sources delivering high quality and targeted results to internal and external clients in line with their specific requirements.
  • Successful track record operating as a member of an Information Services, Knowledge Management or a related team, preferably in a legal environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills and the ability to present research effectively in both a written and verbal format, imparting information and analysis clearly, concisely, effectively and objectively. This is required at all levels of the business from Executive Board to junior roles in teams across the Group.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships internally and externally, in particular whilst working as part of a virtual team.
