Job description
Knowledge Management AI and Systems Lead (5836)
We’re a national law firm with a local reach. Our legal experts are here for you. Whether it’s personal or business, we understand that everyone’s situation is different. But we’re more than just a law firm – we’re a team of people working together to help individuals and businesses navigate life’s ups and downs. Working here you’ll feel a part of our friendly and inclusive environment.
We’ll value you for who you are and what you bring. We support each other and push boundaries to achieve incredible things and make a real difference to our clients and communities.
We're always looking to support our colleagues to work in a way that works best for them and everyone else, including our clients, the business and the regulators. Please speak to a member of our Recruitment and Onboarding team for more information.
The Knowledge Management Team is responsible for ensuring colleagues across IM can easily access the legal, business and process knowledge they need to support their daily work. The team maintains high-quality research services, managing and improving the central knowledge hubs and other knowledge systems, delivering timely updates on key legal developments and providing expert support with resources and training. The team is also responsible for driving the firm’s adoption and effective use of legal AI, digital tools and knowledge technologies. The team keeps IM’s knowledge well-structured, up-to-date, accessible and AI-ready, enabling efficient workflows, better-informed decision-making and consistently high standards across the business.
The Knowledge Management AI and Systems Lead supports the development and responsible use of legal AI tools and knowledge systems. Working closely with the Director of Knowledge Management, the wider Knowledge and Practice Development Teams and other colleagues across the business, this role will help to gain maximum value from our legal AI tools by developing best practice to promote broader adoption of legal AI.
This role plays a key part in managing knowledge hubs, curating legal content and supporting AI-enhanced workflows. You’ll help to shape responsible AI use and build best practice for research, drafting and precedent management using tools such as Lexis Protege and Practical Law AI. The role blends innovation with rigour, managing knowledge systems, curating high-quality content, validating AI outputs and scanning the horizon for emerging tech. You’ll develop training, support pilots, collaborate across legal, tech and business teams and track adoption to maximise impact. As part of the Knowledge Management Leadership Team, you’ll help steer the knowledge strategy while also delivering complex legal research when needed to support the legal research team.
You will ideally have
- Experience with legal knowledge management technologies and AI tools, with a genuine interest in legal tech innovation.
- Experience in legal research or broader research/knowledge management roles.
- Strong knowledge of key legal and business research databases and the ability to deliver high-quality, targeted research using subscription tools, public sources and hard-copy materials.
- Familiarity with current awareness platforms such as Manzama.
- Strong client-service mindset, committed to delivering high-quality support to internal and external stakeholders.
- High IT proficiency, especially across Microsoft Office, with the ability to present research in the most suitable format.
- 25 days holidays as standard plus bank holidays - You can ‘buy’ up to 35hrs of extra holiday too.
- Generous and flexible pension schemes.
- Volunteering days – Two days of volunteering every year for a cause of your choice (fully paid)
- Westfield Health membership, offering refunds on medical services alongside our Aviva Digital GP services.
We also offer a wide range of well-being initiatives to encourage positive mental health both in and out of the workplace and to make sure you’re fully supported. This includes our Flexible by Choice programme which gives our colleagues more choice over a hybrid way of working subject to role, team and client requirements.
We have been ranked in the Best Workplaces for Wellbeing for Large Organisations for 2024!
Our responsible business programmes are fundamental to who we are and our purpose. We’re committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace where our colleagues can flourish, and we have established a number of inclusion network groups across our business to support this aim.
Our commitment to Social Responsibility, community investment activity and tackling climate change is a fundamental part of who we are. It’s made up of four strands: Our People, Our Community, Our Environment and Our Pro Bono.
