Working as a Data and Insights Analyst you will be an integral member of our Data team, responsible for delivering quality insight from our data, providing insight tools, analysis and MI which improve commercial understanding and solve operational challenges in order to improve our financial and operational outcomes and support the delivery of sustainable, predictable, profitable growth across the Group.
Essential
- Analytical skills with ability to evidence strong skills in analysis driving insight and action
- Experience of working with Power BI to deliver visualisations in previous organisations
- Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel) with an ability to become familiar with firm-specific programs and software
- Operational excellence focus - drive for service excellence, process and people efficiency
- Excellent organisational and project management skills
Desirable
- Knowledge of SQL and understanding of relational databases
- Ability to quickly pick up and understand complex business process’s/issues.
- Ability to review, propose and improve processes and ways of working to improve commercial outcomes
Business Delivery
- Operate as a key member of the Analytics team, to provide analysis which will support the delivery of key trading metrics and drive key performance outcomes.
- Play an important role in the continual improvement of our visualisation reporting and migration to Power BI and working within a Azure cloud platform.
- Take a proactive approach to delivering weekly and monthly BAU reporting, and deep-dive analyses that provide business insights. Take advantage of in house analytics tools, visualisations, data quality measures and business knowledge to improve reporting, whilst developing personal skills set.
- Support the Insight team in creation of insight solutions and providing analysis which drives a culture of compliance, best practice and operational excellence on key processes.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to drive efficiencies and to enable improvements in our operational efficiency and gross contribution.
Business Projects
- Support the Analytics team delivery of key business initiatives which drive improved performance and profitability across the division through the appropriate and creative application of analytic methods.
- Work with business leadership teams to provide relevant insight on projects, supporting the Data team in offering a range of solutions to analytic problems and help to guide good data practice.
- Utilising deep-dive analysis, identify opportunities for business improvement and help influence those business stakeholders to make changes accordingly.
Support development of Data and Analytics Capability
- Support Irwin Mitchell’s wider data strategy through engagement in relevant projects and forums
- Support the continual improvement of knowledge of modern visualisation through Power BI and working in a cloud environment
- Interface with all relevant teams across Irwin Mitchell in relation to provision of financial insight and BI, taking opportunities to support efficiencies and improvements to the ways of working of the team and wider business
- Investigate and identifying root causes of data issues including system processes. Work with the wider team to create recommendations to improve and work with stakeholders across the business in order to deliver.
