The role can be based from any of our regional offices and offers flexibility in terms of home and office working.

Our Team

The Court of Protection is the judicial body responsible for making decisions relating to the management of finances and other affairs of those individuals who lack the mental capacity to do so themselves. As one of the UK’s leading firms of solicitors, we have a dedicated and experienced team who specialise in all matters relating to the Court of Protection. We help clients who are responsible for managing someone else’s affairs, those who are concerned about the ability of someone else to manage their own affairs  or another person’s affairs and clients who may be concerned about their own ability to manage their affairs.

Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

The primary purpose of the role is to ensure File Reviews are completed on behalf of the national COP Team. This will be in line with the COP Supervision policy and File review protocol. You will also be required to support the team with the delivery of business improvement projects and business critical change, as required.

Your role will include but is not limited to the following tasks:

  • Ensure File Reviews are completed and delivered at the rate required by the COP Supervision policy and COP File Review protocol.
  • Work with COP Risk Lead to enable Support to work as efficiently as possible. This means you will help define and improve the current financial, operational, and accounting processes to drive better working practices, ensure robust controls, and minimise risk. This includes delivery of documented processes including flowcharts, process narratives, process risk & controls matrices, test plans, periodic balance sheet reconciliations, etc.
  • Ensure management of risks and issues against the projects or change, ensuring that adequate planning and contingencies have been put in place to cope with any problems that occur.
  • Deliver all required documentation on projects to a high standard, e.g. business requirements specifications, change request documentation, user acceptance plans/scripts, process maps, project plans, reports
  • Undertake regular reviews of operating processes and systems to ensure high level of service and technical proficiency is maintained within the department.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all COP offices. The job holder should also develop and maintain strong links with internal stakeholders including: PI, IM Accounts, IT, Central Change.
  • Ensure all activity is in reference to costs recovery guidelines and analysis, to ensure that any overheads are kept to an absolute minimum.
  • Ensure team adherence to agreed financial and court requirements across the business, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
