Commercial Finance Manager - Sales & Growth (1827)

Your Role

As a Commercial Finance Manager, you’ll be an integral part of Irwin Mitchell’s Group Commercial team; providing regular sales performance reporting, forecasting, reviews and insightful commentary on client growth & profitability. This is a high profile and highly visible role where you will act as a subject matter expert; gaining an in-depth understanding of the commercial value drivers that impact both our business and our clients. You’ll work closely with teams across finance and the wider business, including Sales and Marketing, improving commercial awareness and supporting actions to improve client growth and profitability.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the continued development of a number of weekly & monthly reports to help understand the revenue and client profitability performance across a number of key legal services’ audiences; providing insightful commentary, highlighting risks, opportunities and recommendations to improve performance across the Group.
  • Creating and using the KPIs to determine actions to improve client profitability and drive performance.
  • Leading and managing the key financial planning processes within the Group Commercial teams, challenging assumptions, and ensuring our Finance systems are updated accordingly.
  • Ensuring costs are well understood and controlled across the Commercial teams, particularly Sales and Marketing; providing insight into the return on investment of marketing and business development spend.
  • Mentoring and providing indirect leadership for the centralised, high performing, finance teams, understanding and communicating the Commercial objectives for the team and acting as a key member of the decision board that reviews and sets the strategic direction of the Group Commercial teams.
  • Working alongside the Innovation and Marketing Insight team to continue the development of new visual dashboards, analyses and KPIs to help the business implement new business improvement projects.
  • Provide decision support, ad hoc analyses, financial models, projections and investigations in response to queries raised by staff and partners of the firm as may be required from time to time.

What We’re looking for

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Extensive experience of working in an analytical role with a particular focus on sales growth, and channels to market analysis
  • Evidence of challenging the business “norms” and the assumptions included in any financial plans, business cases, models, etc.
  • Experience of successfully dealing with all levels of internal stakeholders
