Associate - Family Law (5080)

Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

We are currently looking to recruit an Associate to join our highly ranked and award-winning National Family team to be based from our offices in Aske, North Yorkshire or Newcastle.

Last year Irwin Mitchell completed its acquisition of Silk Family Law, adding their tier 1 ranked team to our National Family team, in Newcastle and Aske.  That acquisition has created further opportunities to add to our team from those locations.

You will be working within a high specialised and experienced team of Family law professionals representing clients in a variety of matrimonial and family law cases including finance and children matters.  The team have particular expertise in dealing with complex issues such as business assets, farming businesses, trusts and pensions and cases with an international dimension.  

This is a superb opportunity to develop your knowledge and expertise working as part of a long-established regional team as well as an award-winning top tier National Family team in one of the UK‘s leading law firms.

About You
  • A sound all-round knowledge of family law and procedure - used to dealing with and leading on both day-to-day and high value, complex cases with a high standard of drafting skills
  • Experience and confidence in meeting with clients and advising face to face and remotely
  • Experience of advocacy in the family court and/or in other public speaking environments
  • A natural team player with a professional and collegiate approach to working with clients and colleagues
  • Well rounded client service skills with the ability to empathise with a wide range of clients in order to resolve the most sensitive and complicated practicalities involved in family break-ups
  • Demonstrable ambition, energy and enthusiasm for continuing to build a successful Family law team at the top of the market.
  • Confident in developing relationships with other professionals and referrers as part of personal and firm-wide business development plans

We believe the role would suit someone with around 3 -6 PQE but are happy to consider applications from those outside of this bracket if you feel that you could add value to the role.
