Job description
Tax Team Administrator (6460)
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Tax Team Administrator to join our Tax, Trust and Compliance Team in Chichester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who would enjoy detailed administrative work and is keen to develop their knowledge within a supportive and collaborative environment.
You will play a key role in supporting the team, ensuring client matters are managed efficiently and deadlines are met. This position offers valuable exposure to tax compliance processes and provides an excellent platform for career development.
This is an office-based role, working from our Chichester office five days per week as part of a team of three Tax Team Administrators.
As a Tax Team Administrator, you will assist with:
- Managing the end-to-end client onboarding process, including opening new matters, preparing engagement documentation, setting up records within our systems, obtaining HMRC authorisations, and conducting client identification checks.
- Maintaining workflows and ensuring all client records are accurately established to support effective case management and compliance.
- Producing and analysing reports from our tax software to support tax payment reminders, information requests, and client communications.
- Coordinating annual information requests for personal tax clients, including preparing checklists, and supporting documentation.
- Producing regular management and client insight reports, including client satisfaction and new client reporting.
- Preparing, printing, and issuing correspondence, tax returns, and other documentation to clients and HMRC.
- Managing and safeguarding original client documentation received by the team.
- Logging and processing client information for tax return preparation, including obtaining information from HMRC and supporting fee earners with administrative aspects of file reviews.
- Assisting with compliance and file review processes for advisory matters.
- Submitting tax returns electronically to HMRC and ensuring all documentation is accurately recorded within our document management system.
- Producing ad hoc reports to support business development initiatives and legislative updates.
- Updating client engagement documentation and maintaining accurate client records.
- Supporting the client closure process when matters are completed.
Full training will be provided, so prior experience in Trusts and Tax is not essential. We're looking for a motivated individual with a positive attitude, enthusiasm to learn, and a genuine interest in developing a career in this area.
Essential:
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive, enthusiastic approach with a strong work ethic and willingness to support the wider team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when handling information and documentation.
- The ability to build effective working relationships and communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage workloads independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Sound judgement, including recognising when issues need to be escalated to senior colleagues.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
