Paralegal – Medical Negligence / Group Actions – Sheffield (6183)

Our medical negligence team has extensive experience in clinical negligence claims arising from all aspects of medical treatment including obstetrics, surgery, private and general practice treatment, and psychiatric care.
Our Group Actions team has experience of high-profile medical negligence group actions and is currently dealing with claims arising from treatment provided by Mr Williamson (spinal surgeon), Ms Stohr (paediatric orthopaedics), and Mr Jabbar (paediatric orthopaedics). They also deal with product liability claims, particularly those arising from medical devices, and have been ranked as a leading firm in this area for many years.
This is a hybrid role, working 2 days per week in our Sheffield office.
Your role will involve but is not limited to:
- Speaking to new / potential clients and taking details of their claim.
- Taking instructions from clients and assisting with the giving of legal advice, including obtaining evidence and, where appropriate, assist with litigation, to achieve appropriate resolutions for the clients.
- Liaising with medical experts, organising, and attending multi-disciplinary conferences.
- Working with counsel, preparing for, and attending court hearings.
- Obtaining key medical evidence, including medical records. Achieving time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitable working.
- Supporting case handlers generally in the running of the cases.
- Attending and contributing to team/practice area meetings and complying with directions/decisions made to ensure team objectives achieved.
- Keeping up to date with changes in relevant law and practice and attending appropriate training events to ensure up to date legal knowledge and best practice.
- Involvement in business development and charity events.
- Demonstrable experience as a Paralegal in Medical Negligence
- Empathy and compassion to help guide our clients through challenging personal circumstances
- Organised and pro-active with high standards of workload and diary management
