What will your day look like?

To undertake work as necessary and directed on client matters providing quality legal advice and other legal services to the firm’s clients.

Your key responsibilities as an Associate Solicitor would be:

  • To take initial instructions from clients and to advise on the legal action and all alternatives, as appropriate, open to the client.
  • To keep the client informed as required by the firm's and department's set up procedures.
  • To run the files allocated in accordance with the firm's and department's set procedures.
  • To meet all cost/fee targets where set.
  • To keep abreast of changes in legal practice within the post holder's area of specialism, disseminating this information as appropriate, ensuring the Firm's legal advice reflects best practice and any new market opportunities are developed.
  • Actively support practice development and cross-selling.
  • Assisting in and collaborating on practice development activities with colleagues in other teams and Group Services where needed.

Our Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Current Practising Certificate
  • Knowledge of the Scottish law and legal System
  • Giving expert and authoritative legal advice in specialist area
  • Researching of legal & other topics/issues to maintain expertise
  • Analysis of legal problems, providing interpretation and making recommendations
  • Leading and participating in practice development
  • Drafting of legal documentation
  • Full control and conduct of a number of cases/deals including complex matters
  • Emerging reputation for expertise in field/area of specialism
  • Works well in both a team and on their own
  • Computer literate in all Microsoft Office programs

Desirable

  • Experience of working for financial services’ businesses in a legal environment.

*Training will be conducted in our Manchester office and the cost of travel will be covered by our business. Following successful completion of training, you will be then be considered for our Hybrid working model.
